IRENE CLAY JOHNSTON, daughter of George M. Johnston and Eliza J. Snavely, was born on 24 Jul 1874 in Virginia1,[2]. She died on 27 Jan 1959 in Atkins, Smyth County, VA[1]. She married William Stephen Stone on 17 Oct 1893 in Atkins, Smyth County, VA[1], son of William Stone Jr. and Martha Jane Morton. He was born on 18 Jul 1871 in Grayson County, VA[1,3]. William Stephen Stone was a miller; he owned the W. S. Stone Mill in Wytheville, VA[1].

Irene Clay Johnston and William Stephen Stone are buried in Marion, Smyth County, VA (Mount Carmel Cemetery)[3].

    ii. GEORGE GERALD STONE was born on 06 Nov 1897 in Virginia[2,6,7]. He died on 15 Aug 1961[6]. He married REBECCA DARDEN. She was born on 15 Aug 1898 in Virginia[6]. She died on 05 Apr 19926. They are buried in Marion, Smyth County, VA (Mount Carmel Cemetery)[6].
    iii. ELSIE STONE was born about 1900 in Virginia[2].
    iv. JOHN THOMAS STONE was born about 1903 in Virginia[2].
    v. WILLIE IRENE STONE was born about 1906 in Virginia[2].
