QRP Fox Hunt Rules
- Hounds (you) search the band for the two foxes calling CQ FOX and work them.
- Hounds should take special care not to transmit on the fox's frequency. (Exception if the fox goes simplex.)
- 5 watts or less RF output from the transmitter.
- Assistance is NOT allowed. This includes using the bandmap in N1MM, Reverse Beacon Network (RBN), or any spotting assistance that gives the foxes's frequency.
- Exchange: RST, QTH (state/province/DX), Operator’s name, Power (E.g. 5W, 750MW, etc.)
- A hunt will occur on a single band within a 20 kHz section. See below for frequencies.
- One fox will be in the lower 10 kHz & the other fox in the upper 10 kHz section.
- A fox will call CQ FOX DE [call] UP and listen about 1 kHz up.
- The foxes may shift up or down to avoid QRM during the hunt.
- Foxes will announce QSY UP or QSY DN before they change their transmit frequency.
- The foxes may, at their discretion, change to simplex operation when few hounds are heard. When changing to simplex, the fox will announce "SIMPLEX" or similar and stop calling UP.
- Hunts last 90 minutes.
